Kia to Debut MPV Concept, Hybrid cee'd in Geneva

South Korean automaker Kia will showcase several new models at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show, with an all-new MPV concept expected to be the main attraction at Kia's exhibition stand. In total, Kia will be displaying no less than 18 vehicles at the show, including the new Kia Soul, the upgraded 2009 Sportage compact SUV plus the new 2009 Kia Magentis sedan.

Also known as the No. 3 Concept Car, the new small MPV boasts a large windscreen and panorama glass roof plus an automatic sun visor and various elements matching the new Kia design line, including the front grille, headlamps and the logo. The concept has a length of 4045 mm and comes in matt Titanium grey with contrasting gloss-white accents.

Beside the all-new MPV, Kia will also showcase the fuel-efficient Kia cee'd ISG (Idle Stop & Go) which is already on sale in a number of European countries. For those of you who missed the news, Kia cee'd ISG offers up to 15 percent fuel savings in city mode using various fuel-reduction technologies, including the aforementioned ISG.

Also, Kia Motors "has produced a fleet of prototype Kia cee'd Hybrid cars especially for testing and evaluation in Europe," the manufacturer said in a statement for the press. The hybrids incorporate an upgraded 1.6-liter gasoline engine plus a 15 kW electric unit and a CVT transmission.

According to figures provided by Kia, the hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in no less than 11.8 seconds, with maximum speed rated at 185 km/h (114.9 mph). The prototype achieved a fuel consumption rating of 4.81 l/10km and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km - down 25 percent versus the base 1.6-liter gasoline engine
