According to a report by Inside Line, Kia, which is the second-best selling foreign brand in Russia after Chevrolet, could use the Hyundai Solaris platform to develop what may very well serve as replacement for the Rio series. Technical details, launch date and pricing are not available at this point, but the future model could be a competitor for affordable models sold in Russia such as Renault Logan.
Meanwhile, Kia is also concentrating its efforts on the future Picanto, the car designed by Peter Schreyes and built to be released to the public at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show.
The new Picanto will share its underpinnings with the Hyundai i10 and will go on sale soon after the official debut at the Swiss venue. In the United Kingdom for example, the new Picanto will likely reach dealerships in late spring.
"The new model has been styled by Kia’s European design team based in Frankfurt, Germany, under the direction of Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer. Exuding self confidence, solidity and maturity, the next generation Picanto is designed to break the city car mould," an official press statement rolled out by the South Korean manufacturer a few days ago was mentioning.
