Yes, the Soul EV is Kia's first ever electric car, maybe not as popular as the Chevy Volt or the Nissan Leaf, but still practical enough to be worthy of an award.

We're telling you this because the Soul EV has been awarded Best Small Family Car by AutoVolt, after it finished ahead of competing finalists to win the award, including the Nissan LEAF and the Volkswagen e-Golf.

According to AutoVolt's editorial team, Kia Souls EV stood out from the crown thanks to "flexibility, practicality and class-beating range".

"Kia’s Soul EV is a fantastic car that comes highly recommended. If you’re considering an electric car but are anxious about the myths, Kia have the best answer for you at the moment. The Soul EV is a near no compromise car, which is a great entry into the world of electric motoring. The seven year warranty offers fantastic peace of mind and the electric range is class leading; it actually does the 132 miles it says it will," explained Jonathan Musk, Founder and Editor of AutoVolt.

The Soul EV has been on sale since the second half of 2014, and it is also Kia’s first battery-electric vehicle to be sold globally. The green ride offers a maximum range of 132 miles (212 km).

Do you think the Sould EV is the rightful holder of this title?
