Kia K5 Sedan (Optima) Launched with 5 Engines and Two Design Lines in Korea

This mid-size sedan looked bold and distinctive before, but now it's an outright fashion statement for the sharp-dressing Korean businessman. You guys are looking 2016 Kia K5, which for the first time is available with two different designs, the MX and SX. The differences are subtle, but you can probably make them out quite quickly in the photo above.

BMW, Mercedes and Audi all offer so-called lines for their cars to ensure some level of individuality is achieved. However, both these Kia packages look sport.

There are five different engine choices available on this sedan, starting with a naturally aspirated 2-liter gasoline unit that produces 168 PS and 20.5 kg-m (200 Nm or 147 lb-ft of torque). It's said to get 12.6 kilometers per liter on average (7.9 l/100km or 30 mpg), which isn't bad.

Next up, we have a turbocharged version of the 2-liter with a more respectable 245 PS and 36 kg-m of torque (350 Nm or 258 lb-ft). It averages only 10.8 kilometers to the liter (9.3 l/100km or 25 mpg) and can be had exclusively in the SX trim. A smaller 1.6-liter turbo, shared with the Veloster Turbo, is also available and delivers 180 PS.

Lastly, there are the two fuel sippers of the range, a 1.7-liter diesel producing 141 PS plus 34.7 kg-m of torque (340 Nm or 250 lb-ft), or an LPG-powered model with a 2-liter engine making 151 PS.

Unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show in April, the new Optima is inspired by the Sportspace concept and features many of the technologies developed for the 2015 Hyundai Sonata, including Google CarPlay.
