Kia K5 Hybrid and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Sales Going Up in Korea

In the US, the Korean manufacturers Kia and Hyundai are going through steady and profitable times. Worth mentioning that both of the manufacturers have posted record sales figures, they managed to cut their own client niche proving that their vehicles are reliable, affordable and most important fuel efficient. It looks like the waters are clear in the US but do they look the same in their homeland?

First, it might be a good ides to observe that the current car market lean towards green, hybrid vehicles as safer alternative to the gas guzzlers that have dominated the US market until now. Another concerning fact might be the worrying rise of gas prices, a phenomenon that shows no signs of slowing down. A result of the astronomic gas prices the consumers were driven towards alternatives like the fuel efficient cars and hybrid models built by the manufacturer they trust.

This being one of the most important factors which helped manufacturers like Hyundai and Kia to boost their sales world wide. In the US, Kia has known a massive sales rise over the past few months, thanks to the success of the Kia Optima Hybrid (K5 in Korea), which leads the way with an 300 percent leap in sales last month. Also, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid boosted impressive gains meaning 1,780 units were sold with an 20 percent increase over the previous month.

Despite the fact that they both are a long way in matching the sales figures of the Toyota Prius, they are making steady gains. Despite the higher price of the hybrid versions, Koreans are more likely to pay the $2850 extra having the peace of mind that the investment will pay off in the long therm. July was a strong month, with the Sonata Hybrid selling 1,500 units and the K5 Hybrid accounting for a further 729 units.
