Every time guys, every time – every time there's a new car coming out, automakers intentionally leak a few photos, just so they can get extra coverage. Whatever, we'll have a taste of what Kia is cooking, but only because it's cool.
Looking like a cross between 70s American coupe with the headlights of a Le Mans prototype, the Kia GT4 has appeared online today. This is our fist chance to take a look at the car before it makes its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show later today.
Looking more like Chip Foose's creation than a brother of the Kia Optima, this is likely a design study from California. A new Tiger Nose grille has been added, similar to the one on the K900, but with a floating design. This is flanked by simple and large LED headlights. One of the most interesting design features on the car is the A-pillar, which is see-through thanks to small windows.
The engine Kia claims is powering this car strikes us as very interesting. Bucking the trend for hybridization, it's a 4-cylinder turbo T-GDi with 315-hp (235 kW) and sent to the back wheels. It makes us wonder if this concept isn't based on Hyundai's similarly powered Genesis Coupe.
