Kia Forte Awarded to Kia Motors Performance Challenge Winner

For those of you who don’t know it by now, Kia Motors America is the official automotive partner of the NBA. Last weekend, at the final NBA Nation, the company announced the winner of the 2009 Kia Motors Performance Challenge, the lucky new owner of a 2010 Kia Forte compact sedan.

"The Performance Challenge at NBA Nation keeps passionate NBA fans, such as Vasili Spanos, connected to the sport throughout the summer months," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing, KMA. "As the Official Automotive Partner of the NBA, Kia Motors is delighted to be a part of this program and reward the stylish all-new Kia Forte to a devoted basketball enthusiast."

More than 1 million participants entered the competition planned by T-Mobile USA and Kia Motors, getting not only the chance to test their basketball skills, but to win a new Kia Forte as well. The participants who entered the 2009 NBA Nation also met several famous NBA players, which is probably the most important award for a basketball fan.

The NBA Nation tour traveled more than 7,000 miles until it made its final stop on July 12 in Dallas, giving the winners of each tour stop the chance to win a 2010 Kia Forte compact Sedan.

Vasili Spanos is the name of the 2009 Kia Motors Performance Challenge winner of River Forest, Illinois, who is in fact a big Chicago Bulls fan. Spanos qualified for the Kia Motors Performance Challenge final during NBA Nation's Chicago stop where he dribbled, passed and shot his way through the skills course in 18.8 seconds. In the final Challenge, Spanos completed the course in 21.6 seconds, surpassing even last year's winner, Tony Gamez.
