Kia Confirms 11 Models Eligible for US CARS

After the United States government approved the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS), automakers selling cars in the country rushed to announce their very own models participating in the scheme. The goal is obviously an increase in sales, just like it happened in several other regions of the world, especially in European countries.

But getting back to the US, Kia Motors America recently revealed that buyers will be able to choose from a total of 11 eligible Kia models that qualify for up to a $4,500 rebate. The Kia models to participate in the scrapping programme are the following: Forte, Soul, Rondo CUV, Sedona, Optima, Rio and Rio5, Borrego, Sorento and Sportage. Additionally, the 2010 Forte Koup will be also included in the scheme when it goes on sale later this year.

“Consumers have the opportunity to not only purchase a new car with a significant rebate, but also reap the benefits of modernized safety features, advanced technology as well as increased fuel economy,” said Tom Loveless, vice president of sales, KMA.

“There has been no other time in recent history when such an extensive national buyer incentive program has been implemented, and Kia Motors is pleased to provide consumers with a comprehensive selection of vehicles that are praised for their style, quality, value, fuel efficiency and long list of standard safety features.”

According to the official CARS.gov website, a consumer eligible for the scrapping programme could receive between $3,500 and $4,500, depending on the type of vehicle he buys and the difference in fuel economy between the purchased car and the trade-in one. For passenger cars, the new vehicle must have a combined fuel efficiency rating of at least 22 miles per gallon.
