Kia and NBA Extend Partnership, LeBron James to Star in New Ad

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Kia Motors America have announced today a new multiyear extension of their marketing partnership, which has been running since 2008. Kia now also becomes the official luxury vehicle of the NBA, following the recent introduction of the brand’s K900 sedan.
Among other new ventures, the Koreans will also expand their relationship to serve as an official auto partner of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

As part of their collaboration with NBA All-Star LeBron James and to celebrate the start of the season, the auto maker will debut a new television advertorial called “Valet.” Fans can se the basketball star joining a growing roster of Kia endorsers, which includes Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin.

Kia is a big NBA “fan”

The South Korean auto maker is investing a lot in the field of sports, considering Kia has now closed partnerships with 14 NBA teams. As part of thei deal, Kia will introduce a new Top Plays platform on NBA.com.

Each week, fans will be able to vote on top plays, and at the season’s end, the highlight with the most fan votes will be named the Top Play of the Year. Moreover, they will also have the chance to help with the direction of a highlight-based commercial.

Plays that receive considerable retweets and loops, respectively, will be aggregated into an end-of-season television commercial, scheduled to debut during The Finals,” Kia explained.

Throughout the partnership, Kia will also help the league engage fans across additional innovative programming, advertisements, and sweepstakes during the NBA season This includes a Holiday Gift promotion on the association’s website. According to the company, fans will have the chance to win a Kia Optima and other NBA prizes.
