eBay however did not agree with Finn's sale and pulled the ad from the site, saying it breaks the company's policy regarding murderabilia.
"We carefully consider all the details before deciding to remove such listings when they're brought to our attention, looking at the entire posting to determine if eBay policy has been violated," eBay said in a statement cited by DetNews.
The van was allegedly used by Kevorkian to assist people to commit suicide. It's not clear how many of the alleged 130 kills (or suicides, depending on how you feel about euthanasia) involved the van, but the man who put it up for sale, Jack Finn, says this is "the real deal."
Finn was somewhat disappointed by eBay's decision, but he is still not giving up. If the Internet is so murderabilia-unfriendly, auction houses are not.
According to the current owner of the car. the 1968 VW will be auctioned by Kruse Auctions on May 13. If you intend to buy it, Finn assures you the van is the "real deal, not a romanticized copy such as what is used in the HBO movie."
