Kendall Jenner probably knows about the first Corvette as much as most petrolheads know about the emerging fashion movement that has been called “Social Media Modelling.” The difference is that the reality television star and recently turned 20-year-old fashion model can afford just about any car she wants, apparently.
Similar to her younger sister, Kylie, Kendall is also known for posting celebrity selfies and career updates to her followers on social media - all 40.5 million of them. Yet, it appears she missed the most remarkable thing she could get her hands on - a 1957 Corvette C1. For some unknown reason, the model’s Instagram account popped up, but no pictures with the beautiful Vette could be seen.
The natural question most of you guys will ask is whether or not the car truly belongs to her, or it’s just another tabloid rumor. You see, according to TMZ, Kendall was behind the wheel of the car while driving on Tuesday in Beverly Hills. Moreover, it appears this is the birthday gift she gave herself.
A quick Internet search reveals that, apparently, the young Jenner can afford such purchases, considering a little over one year ago she bought a $1.4 million two-bedroom, 2.5-bath condominium in Los Angeles as her primary residence. Considering the vehicle in question is a first generation Corvette sportscar, it’s safe to say we’re looking at a keeper.
It was the first American car to feature an engine with a one-to-one ratio of horsepower to cubic inch. Its top-of-the-line 283-cubic-inch V8 developed 283 horsepower. The one in question may not be the top of the line, but it sure is a great piece of machinery.
Kendall’s choice may come as a surprise to the many people who are used to seeing the Kardashians wrapped in opulence and bad taste.
The same deed happened before, though, only that the car was not a purchase, but rather for show. Sometime last year Khloe Kardashian almost set the bar higher for her rather superficial family when she posed in a 1955 Ford Thunderbird.
