As we mentioned earlier today, Ford is currently on a drifting frenzy. This week not only sees the Blue Oval honoring the National Grandparents Day by allowing senior citizens to fully dip into the Drift Mode of the 2016 Focus RS, but also marks the debut of the Gymkhana 9 trailer.
The ninth installment of the rubber-burning franchise is scheduled to hit us on September 13th and there'll be so much smoke that we can probably enjoy some weekend feelings on a Tuesday.

Here's what Ken Block had to say about the release that's just around the corner: "Gymkhana NINE: raw action, danger, and the first time the Ford Focus RSRX has ever been driven in anger outside of a racetrack. AWESOME. Launching next Tuesday, September 13th!"

Ah, yes, the pleasures of the Ford Focus RS RX... the compact rallycross racer seems like it has the power to make us get over the sideways instruments Ken has used in the past. However, while we have no issue with the man upgrading from a Fiesta to a Focus, we can't say the same about the Hoonicorn Mustang. Then again, one can never know when the all-wheel-drive pony can make a comeback, so we won't complain.

In our book, the peak moment of the trailer is the one that sees a helicopter joining the smoking action. We've seen Ken Block drifting under cars before and it seems like this time he's turned to a heli for lifting his cone-car instead of the hydraulic suspension jumps we've seen in the past - that was back in 2014, when the slip angle man used the 845 hp restomod 1965 Mustang to drift underneath a jumping lowrider.

Returning to the upcoming Gymkhana 9, we'll remind you the man and the machine had been spotted doing their thing in Buffalo, New York and, once again, a helicopter was involved.

Since time flies when you're having drift, we'll see you on Tuesday.
