Ken Block Manhandles 2016 Focus RS at Goodwood, Ex-Stig Whips Mustang GT350R

Ford’s Performance arm is starting the weekend full-throttle and sideways and while we’ve already seen Ken Block drifting his 850 Hoonicorn Mustang on the Goodwood Hillclimb course and now it’s time to talk about the models us civilians can reach.

Block was also out on the 1.16-mile course in the 2016 Ford Focus RS. With the Blue Oval having recently letting it slip the mad hatch churns out 350 PS (345 HP) and 470 Nm (346 lb-ft) of all-wheel-drive juice, Block kept a nice smile on his face throughout the entire run.

We imagine he would’ve gone for a more sideways approach, had he been left alone with the Focus. Regardless, that part was left for former Stig Ben Collins. As we reported, the Black Stig went round the Hillclimb in the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R.

As you’ll be able to see in the second clip below, his take-off was the most intense part of the run. We haven’t driven one of these GT350Rs track machines yet, but the chassis balance and handling composure are obvious. Otherwise, Collins wouldn’t have thrown that steering wheel around as if it were a dice.

And seeing that stripped out interior only makes us want to throw this thing at a Porsche 911 GT3, be it standard or RS. We're not worried though, such comparos are inevitable.

Interestingly enough, at the time when this article was published, Ford still hadn’t made an official announcement on the European side of the Shelby GT350/R affair.
