Ken Block, the rally driver that needs no introduction to those that have an Internet connection, has made another Gymkhana video.
The latest video was filmed in Buffalo and Eden, New York, and it features an “industrial playground.” As promised in the previous installment of the series, Block drove a 2016 Ford Focus RS RX.
The latter is a race car designed for the World Rallycross Championship. Do not confuse it with the World Rally Championship, as the former is known as World RX, while the second is WRC.
Block’s car for Gymkhana 9 is designed for racing, but it can do stunts like it’s nobody’s business. It has an inline-four-cylinder engine, which delivers 600 HP and 663 lb-ft (898 Nm). The 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint is performed in just two seconds, and top speed is unreleased.
However, the specifications are less relevant here, as the show consists of carefully planned stunts, which were masterfully executed by Mr. Block. According to Hoonigan, this is the first time that Block leaves the racetrack with the Ford Focus RS RX, and the trip was not made at a granny pace.
Instead, the visit on city tarmac was done at full throttle and sideways, as expected of World RX cars and their drivers when they have to make a show out of driving a race car.
With the release of this video, we have learned that regular people will be able to experience the 2016 Ford Focus RS RX, but only in a virtual environment. In other words, it will be featured in Forza Horizon 3.
There is no word on exclusivity here, but there’s a chance you might not see this car in any game that is run on a PlayStation, unless a DLC adds it to various titles.
As usual with Gymkhana videos, we must remind everyone that this was filmed in controlled conditions, on a closed course, and with a professional driver at the wheel.
Do not attempt to replicate any stunt you see in the video embedded below. Just enjoy them and drive safe in real life. If you play Forza Horizon 3, well, good luck with the stunts!
