It was a matter of days until off-road racing enthusiasts would learn about the new models unveiled at the Detroit International Auto Show this month. As opposed to us, the regular petrol heads, however, celebrities like Ken Block would also afford buying one of these vehicles faster then anybody else, of course.
Yep, the 47-year old rally driver is planning to turn Ford’s newly born into his daily drive as soon as possible, since he just told his over 5 million fans on Facebook he really likes the new dedicated off-roader.

Ford Motor Company launched a hell of a fleet of amazing vehicles at the Detroit Auto Show this week! This was one of my favorites, and the one I'm most excited about (of course): the 2017 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. Two turbos, all-new aluminum body, and an absolutely bonkers 10-speed transmission. Lighter + more power, and aggressive styling? I'm in”. This were his exact words.

Are we surprised? Not even a bit. Why? Because it’s probably some sort of a marketing venture between the off-road truck maker and Ken Block, especially since the American car maker and Block go way back. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised even if Ford gave the racer one for free, for that matter.

Ford and Block are good pals

The thing is, if you were to take a quick look at the Hoonigan Racing Division driver’s CV, you’d find Ford every two sentences or so. It’s true, he did start off competing rallies driving Subaru racecars, but that only lasted for about five years. Every since 2010, when the Monster World Rally Team announced Block as their driver for selected rounds of the World Rally Championship, Ken started campaigning the Monster/Ford Racing Focus RS WRC 08.

It was just Ford models after that, no mater if they were rally cars or off-road trucks, such as his super popular Ford F-150 RaptorTRAX he took out the Baldface Lodge in Nelson, British Columbia, a couple of months ago.

Since the car won’t be available earlier than late 2016, we’re wondering if Block we’ll get his new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor delivered with the optional tracks as well. At least this way we could get more of that off-road snowy-mountains madness.
