Remember when Ken Block drove a tuned-up Ford F-150 RaptorTRAX on the top of some snowy mountains? Having snowboarders Zak Hale and Ethan Deiss along, the rally racer headed to Baldface Lodge in Nelson, British Columbia and took things to a new level. Well, here’s what’s under the bonnet of the mean machine.
The video footage was recently uploaded on Monster Energy’s YouTube account and has Ken Block showcasing the car. The engine is a 6.2-liter Raptor engine with a Whipple supercharged on it which makes the truck a 650 horsepower monster. The Raptor is the result of a collaboration between Ford and Ken’s mad ideas, outfitted by the driver’s Hoonigan Racing team.

Obviously, the main intervention that makes this machine amazing are its rims, which in fact are tracks. Not any tracks, however, but in fact ones similar to what tanks have. They were designed to go on basically any sort of terrain, even tarmac, but their principle use is driving on snow. Each of the tracks weighs 345 pounds, which implied modified off-road suspension.

Other features that come with it are things such as the bright red lights sitting on the hood of the truck and some extra underbody protection which allows the car to actually float while facing large layers of snow. Add a nice barbecue the truck is always caring around on its hood, just in case anybody gets hungry, and there it is, the perfect winter off-roader.
