Ken Block and the Escort MK2 Make a Good Mix

Pronounce Ken Block’s name and everybody will think of sideways action. Our minds are pretty confused when deciding what should come first when we mention Block: his Gymkhana series or his rallying activity. So, we sat down in our racing office chairs (No, we don’t have Recaros in our offices, we just like to office-race our chairs) and decided that we had to come to a conclusion.

However, the time started passing and none of the two options seem to have a bigger chance of winning this mental race. Then, one of use decided that we could spend our time in a more fun Block-related way, so he started searching the web in an effort to show us a new perspective on the rally/stunt driver.

As you know, we are used to seeing Block work his magic from behind the wheel of vehicles that use a Blue Oval badge. To be more specific, the man likes to use the contemporary Fiesta and Focus. However, it seems that Block also has a soft spot for classic Ford rally racers, as the video bellow shows us.

The footage, which comes form the driver’s archive (it was filmed in October last year in upstate New York) shows Block putting a 1978 Escort MK2 through its paces. The action takes place on a gravel road, deep in the woods. Of course, one of the most interesting ingredients of the footage is the soundtrack. Unfortunately, we only get one minute and 58 seconds of joy.
