The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) informs us on a riding ban installed for certain models of the Kawasaki Teryx4 750 4-seater side-by-side off-road recreational vehicles. The recall is aimed at 2012 and 2013 models, in all its trims: non-EPS, EPS and EPS LE.
It looks like the floorboards of these SxS machines have been manufactured incorrectly and in certain situations debris and sticks can protrude through them intro the foot rest area, increasing the risk of an in injury for the rider and the front passenger.
Customers are advised to immediately stop using these vehicles and contact their nearest Kawasaki dealer. Kawasaki has already received 4 reports of debris breaking through the lower part of the Teryx4, with two cases resulting in injuries to the riders’ toes and thighs. Owners can also get in touch with Kawasaki directly using the toll-free (866) 802-9381 line between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday. Online, they can also check with www.kawasaki.com and click on Recall/Safety Info.
The dealers will schedule a free repair and will install floorboard guards. The CPSC reminds that selling or attempting to resell a recalled consumer product is illegal and will attract legal consequences. Around 11,000 Teryx4 750 are expected in dealerships, and Kawasaki has started notifying the customers.
These vehicles became available starting from October 2011 and stopped selling in July 2014. If you’re not sure whether your Teryx4 is affected by the recall, it’s better to contact your nearest Kawasaki dealer.
