Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Kind of Smokes the Ninja H2, How Disappointing

A much anticipated new presence in the motorcycling world, Kawasaki's supercharged, street-legal Ninja H2 also came with very high expectations. I will be blunt and say that I expected the H2 to literally murder the superbikes. It's not happening, at least not yet.

Some say that the H2 needs some more time, so that the boldest riders who will be putting it through its paces can learn its ways. It may be so, but then again, come on people, show what you and what the H2 can really do before it's too late.

Cool looks are way too expensive

Judging on what we can see in the video below, spending 25 grand on the H2 looks like wasted money. Of course, the looks of the supercharged Ninja are far more brutal than what the classic ZX-10R can brag on, but the difference between the price tags is huge.

A second run with the exhaust system removed from the Ninja H2 seems to provide it with some extra nerve, but it may be because of the missing weight.

In terms of top speed on this particular strip, the H2 is also not the exhilarating machine we all hoped it would be, especially as the ZX-10R steals the run by a good 8 mph (almost 13 km/h).

Some say that the two bikes are comparable, because the ZX-10R is equipped with multiple bolt-on additions. Even so If the performance of these beasts is equal, give or take, why would anyone want to spend double on the H2? Just for the silver paint and the whine of the forced intake? Or maybe for the exclusive character of this small-run bike?

Guess what, it's not THAT exclusive anymore, as Kawasaki recently announced that, due to strong demand, more H2 machines will be built, causing anger among early-bird customers.

Seriously, I feel a bit disappointed in the Ninja H2, and it will most likely take a blasting video showing sheer, evil and merciless racing grunt from the bike to change my mind. I mean, it's a cool bike, but just not THAT cool...
