Nissan GT-Rs have gone mental these days, with 2,000 HP monsters taking over the drag strips all over the world and breaking one record after another. Nonetheless, there had to be some bike that would come along and steal Godzilla’s crown. Well, all we can tell you for now is that bike isn’t the Kawasaki Ninja H2R.
The 300 HP H2R recently took on the role of a supercar and hypercar slayer, smoking an 1,200 HP Bugatti Veyron in the process. This is where a heavily tuned GT-R comes into play.

The track-confined H2R, a supercharged machine, battled it out with a Nissan whose VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 had been dialed all the way up to 1,350 HP. While GT-Rs are well known for their blistering take-offs, this race was done using a 50 MPH (80.5 KM/H) rolling start.

Despite the Kawasaki putting up a respectable fight, the GT-R won this one by a serious margin. Just like the Veyron battle, this was a half-mile race. Had the two been allowed to fully stretch their mechanical legs by a one-mile race, the car would’ve gained an even greater advantage.

While the 300 HP Ninja H2R debuted last year, along with its 200 HP H2 street equivalent, the GT-R finds itself towards the end of its life cycle. This explains the extreme tuning possibilities available for the Japanese supercar.

Speaking of which, we’ll remind you the GT-R quarter mile record fell back in March, when Extreme Turbo Systems’ Nissan stole the crown from AMS Performance’s Alpha Omega GT-R. The result? A staggering 7.49s pass at 189 MPH (304.3 KM/H). That, however, is the product of an extreme tune generating north of 2,000 HP.

And when you think that Nissan attempted to prevent the GT-R from being tuned when the car was launched back in 2007...
