Kawasaki Ninja H2 Insurance Quotes Are Completely Crazy in the UK

The lucky guys who got their hands on a Kawasaki Ninja H2 are now facing the second part of their throes, after getting the money to actually buy the bike: getting it insured. For reasons which still remain unclear, insurance providers in the UK came up with huge quotes that reached almost a third of the bike's price. And the H2 is anything but cheap, as you already knew...

In the UK, those who were quick to place a deposit with a Kawasaki dealer can enjoy their Ninja H2 for £22,000. Since we're going to deal with a lot of numbers in this piece, just remember that one GBP equals roughly $1.5 or €1.4, so you can do the math for yourselves.

Only one in 44 insurance providers offered a quote for the Ninja H2...

Because the H2 is a very new and expensive bike and getting it insured might be an iffy business, visordown decided to consult an online comparison website which aggregates results from 44 providers. Aside from the fact that only one response came, the quotes were through the roof.

The first one was £5,752, for a 43-year-old rider with 25 years of experience, 9 years of no-claim bonus, no accidents and convictions, living in Essex, a county north-east of London. When location was changed to London, the prices went even higher, reaching £7,183, which is just under a third of the bike's price.

"The quotes were for fully-comprehensive cover and social, domestic and pleasure use. Asking for third-party-fire-and-theft cover resulted in no quote being retrieved," the mentioned source adds.

Kawasaki's own insurance is the cheapest and requires a GPS tracker

Maybe this will come as a surprise for some, but the best insurer for the Ninja H2 this time was Kawasaki themselves. The H2 could be insured for £899, provided that a GPS tracker was installed on the bike. The demand was motivated by the high price and desirability of the Ninja H2.

However, a somewhat similar bike, at least in terms of displacement and power, the Ninja ZX-10R sets a rider back £180 or so. It will be very interesting to see where this madness stops, because these quotes are preposterous. Some readers claim that a Lambo Aventador 700/4 insurance estimation was £750, so we're definitely in uncharted territory.

Still, these quotes don't help the insurance companies in getting more credibility from the public...
