Kawasaki Ninja H2 Has Race-Grade Components

Kawasaki has uploaded a new video teaser of the upcoming H2 bike. We’re definitely not expecting to find out too many technical data about the bike, as it looks like Kawasaki is keeping them secret until EICMA next week. However, this new video is telling more about how well-equipped this bike is, and this adds to the thrill ahead of its official unveiling.

The photos in the dark are a bit different from the early days of the teasing campaign, so fiddling around with freeware photo software produced the picture in the header. Not exactly a satisfactory shot, but definitely showing decent detail.

We can see that the H2, the “civil” version of the 300hp H2R retains the aggressive front end, though the winglets have been replaced by mirrors. The photo makes it very hard to say whether the Ninja H2 still has the lower deflectors, but again, EICMA is around the corner and we’ll be there.

KYB, Öhlins, Brembo, ABS

Kawasaki has definitely invested a lot in the creation of the H2, so it’s no surprise to see first-class componentry being used to change the whole superbike game. The video shows us a fork with KYB fully-adjustable suspensions. Now, since all the controls are proper knobs and screws, we’d say that the decision to not use electronically-adjustable suspensions is somewhat surprising. After all, these seem to be regarded as THE hype and are adopted by more and more makers… Or are these just the fail-safe controls in case something goes wrong on track and one needs to tweak the suspensions? Just saying…

Electronics are preset aboard the Ninja H2 in the form of an Öhlins steering damper. Brake and clutch hardware is supplied by Brembo, and a close look at the radial-mount front caliper also reveals that the Ninja H2 will be equipped with ABS. Since Kawasaki produces proprietary traction control and ABS software, we can expect that a special, racing-grade ABS was also implemented in the bike.

Finally, the last detail this video offers is the sport transmission which uses a “dogbox”. Unlike the synchro transmissions, the dog-ring gearboxes are suitable for shifting at high revs and favor very fast shifting, which is exactly what serves the purpose of the bike.

We will be watching out for the Ninja H2 at EICMA, so you watch this space for live photos and the first impressions.
