Karun Chandhok Confirms 3 Offers for F1 Drive

With so many new names aiming to make an entry in the 2010 Formula One Championship, we have forgot all about India's highest-rated driver Karun Chandhok. The very man whom Bernie Ecclestone regarded as an “F1 material” kind of driver a few months ago now stepped into the spotlights by saying he has 3 realistic offers to join the F1 field next year.

With fellow GP2 driver Bruno Senna already securing a Formula One drive with Campos Grand Prix, Chandhok's managers seem to have already moved quickly into securing their client a racing spot in the Great Circle. While returning to GP2 testing for Coloni for the first time in months, Chandhok admitted he is very optimistic of exchanging series next year.

My father, our sponsors, advisors and I have been quite busy at following the driver market in F1 and making sure we're talking to the right people, but it's a very complicated time in F1 with a lot of unknowns,” said Chandhok after his GP2 test at Paul Ricard.

We've met with all the new teams and some of the existing ones to explore options for 2010, but at the moment all that has been written is purely speculation and nothing has been confirmed.”

At the moment, I would say there are still three very realistic possibilities to race in F1 next year, but I don't think anything will be public for a few more weeks. Of the 26 pieces in the F1 driver puzzle there are only maybe ten that are in place, so there's still a lot up in the air and I am optimistic that something will work out,” added the Indian driver.

The 25-year old is expected to conclude his first test in Force India's simulator later this year, as promised by the team's boss Vijay Mallya. With Vitantonio Liuzzi's spot at Silverstone still in doubt for 2010 – not to mention Fisichella's potential return to the Indian outfit – a good performance by Chandhok through that test could see him partnering Adrian Sutil in the 2010 lineup.
