2020 turned out to be one heck of a challenging year for automakers, but not all prospects are bleak. In fact, here’s something to look forward to: Karma Automotive announced yesterday the upcoming release of its all-electric car, the Revero GTE sedan.
Karma, formerly Fisker Automotive, plans to deliver three different battery options on the Revero GTE, including one that would allow the estimated 400-mile hyper-range. Within the next 356 days, the carmaker plans to go all-electric.
The Karma Revero GTE joins the GTS, GT and the original Revero in the Karma family, but is the first all-electric offering. It will be build on the Karma E-Flex Platform, “by hand” at Karma’s Innovation and Customization Center (KICC) in Moreno Valley, California. The press statement notes that it will boast the same design language, focus on sustenability and “signature luxury” that Karma customers have become familiar with.
Initial models will include a 75 kWh battery option for an estimated range of 200 miles, and a 100 kWh battery pack for the 300-mile range. The 400-mile hyper-range will be possible with a yet-undisclosed battery option that will be revealed at a later date. All three models will become available next year, with deliveries for the first two options starting in spring 2021, to be followed by the hyper-range version.
Other details on the 200- and 300-mile models include a 0-60 mph acceleration in less than 3.9 seconds, electronic torque vectoring, an 80% charge in under 30 minutes through DC Fast Charging, overnight charging through AC charging, and NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) lithium-ion battery. No details on the 400-mile model have been released.
“The Revero GTE is a testament to Karma’s future and a continuation of the success of our definitive luxury electric Revero GT,” says Vlad Kalika, Vice President of Powertrain at Karma Automotive. “The GTE adds diversity to our growing product range, and ushers in a new era of pure all-electric technology – something we are proud to offer both our customers and the mobility industry.”
Pre-orders / reservations will start on the Karma official website in the coming months.
