The recession might be over (sort of) in America, but it looks like people still aren’t buying things they don’t need. We are of course talking about a Maybach with no doors, roof or glass that was part of the music video “Otis”, staring famous rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z.
The car was auctioned off at the New York Contemporary Art Evening yesterday, and while the house estimate was somewhere between $100,000 and $150,000, it didn’t go anywhere near that magic number.
The death of the Maybach brand or the fact that it’s a ruined car might have something to do with it, but for whatever reason, the Otis Maybach as the car has come to be know only got $60,000. Not even the fact that part of the proceeds from the sale went to Save the Children foundation helped it. But still, money will indeed go toward feeding children in Africa, so it’s not all bad.
