Kandi Coco Full Details, Specs and Photos

Some one week ago, we brought you a piece of news about a car with a wacky name and even a wackier price: the $865 Kandi Coco. Having seen the interest this little street legal, neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) managed to raise, we thought it would be a good idea to return to the subject and tell you on what you may spend your $865 on (beware, this price can only be paid in Oklahoma, thanks to federal and state rebates).

As said, the Kandi Coco is a NEV, with the engine mounted at the rear. The car is a rear-wheel drive, powered by a 72V AC electric motor, while the energy is stored in a lead acid 120h – 150h battery, which can be recharged in 6 to 7 hours. Together, they give the car a rated power of only 4 kW (5.36 hp) and a top speed of 25 mph (40 km/h). The range of the Coco is estimated at around 60 miles per charge (96 km).

Some of you asked to know about the dimensions of the smart-lookalike. The Coco has a 71.3 inch wheelbase, with the total dimensions standing at 103.6 x 60.9 x 61.5.

The retail price of the Coco is $10,599 but, according to Solus International, the distributor of the Coco, the NEV has been officially approved by the IRS as eligible for a tax credit of $4,435. In Oklahoma, that credit is to be added to the $5,299 rebate offered by the state, bringing the final price of the Coco to only $865.
