You may recall the number one hit song “Ruby” some radios still have in their playlists. You probably still find yourself mumbling the lyrics “could it be, could it be that you’re joking with me” and so on. The point is, Kaiser Chiefs’ frontman Ricky Wilson is famous enough to become a successful ambassador, which is why Honda decided to have him on board.
Let’s face it, we’re all getting ready for this long weekend with the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed kicking off. Automakers know that the auto event is of the utmost importance for car people around the UK so they figured they might as well use one of the pop emblems in the game. Wilson is not just the lead singer of a successful indie rock band, but also a judge on BBC1’s favorite Saturday night talent show The Voice.

The artist is about to kick off his role as ambassador by driving the new Civic Type R up the famous hill climb on Saturday 27th June, the day after Kaiser Chiefs play to 65,000 people in Hyde Park with The Who. Yep, sounds big, and that's because it is big. But worry not, the artist has been trained for it, as Ricky secured his National B race license at Knockhill last week, under the guidance of Honda BTCC star driver, Gordon “Flash” Shedden.

Here’s what the artist had to say about the event:

Learning to drive with Flash at Knockhill was an absolute blast and it was incredible seeing how the car handles when driven at speed and what it can do. On a serious note, I have learnt an enormous amount of high-performance driving skills from Flash and am nervously confident I can handle the new Civic Type R around the famous hill climb at Goodwood.”

Apart from the regular television and paper advertorials, as an ambassador, Wilson will also be driving a blue Civic Type R during the summer, so you’d better get ready to see him with it around town.
