I don’t know if you knew but the guys from Kahn Designs announced a while back that they would be rivaling the Mercedes-Benz 6x6 with one of their own creations. The name they chose will ring in my head forever, as a terrible arachnophobic person: the Flying Huntsman.
That’s the same name attributed to the world’s largest spiders that can grow up to 12 inches (30 cm) and are venomous. That’s right, if you too suffer from arachnophobia, you don’t like this name either. Now think of these things flying around...

Well, the Flying Huntsman is not getting airborne anytime soon but looking at it in the metal, it did remind me of the aforementioned 8-legged creature. There’s something about the way this thing was designed that gives you an uneasiness.

The double axle at the back has a cabin on top of it that when looked at from the side does resemble a spider that’s on the hunt. Or maybe that’s just all in my head.

Anyway, unlike the Merc, this 6x6 is based on the Land Rover Defender and we wouldn’t have expected anything else to be honest, this is a British designer and manufacturer after all. And what car is better known worldwide for its off-roading abilities than the Defender?

Unfortunately, it’s not all a British creation. Under the elongated bonnet sits an American V8 from General Motors, a 6.2-liter LS3 to be more precise. It was tuned to make 430 horsepower and a lot of torque but it might not be all that fast to be honest, due to the weight of this thing.

The best news we got however, was the confirmation of the fact that the Kahn Design team is now also working on a 4x4 version of this thing so it would appear that the G-Wagon monsters have some competition now.
