KAEGE Retro Is a Porsche 911 Restomod with Tons of Personality

What you’re looking at isn’t a Singer, nor is it as expensive as a Singer. It is the creation of KAEGE GmbH, a specialist based in Germany with retro ambitions. Cue the KAEGE Retro, a Porsche 911 from the 993 generation with a classic physique.

Let’s recap: modern internals from the 993, vintage looks from the F series (1971 - 1973). What more can you want from a 911? Performance and a nicely appointed cabin? Let’s see. How does an air-cooled 3.6-liter boxer with 300 PS sound to you? What about Recaro seats with tartan upholstery and a Becker satellite navigation system? Every square inch of this two-door sports car oozes perfection.

Of course, KAEGE puts the 993’s air conditioning system to good use in this thing, as well as all the anti-lock brakes.

I know this is a personal opinion, but the steering wheel comes from a 996 and it sort of spoils the otherwise beautiful cabin. Other carry-over components that render the KAEGE Retro a daily driver include the six-speed stick shift, multi-link rear suspension, wipers, and OBD connector. Believe it or not, much of the body shell and go-faster parts such as the intake are made from carbon fiber. As such, the KAEGE Retro is one tough cookie with a curb weight that is comparable to that of a 2016 Ford Fiesta Sedan.

I kid you not, but this thing tips the scales at 2,634 pounds (1,195 kilograms). Carbon fiber isn’t the only weight-saving solution KAEGE employed, though. A race-grade lithium battery also helped with the diet, as did the classically correct three-piece Fuchs-styled 17-inch wheels.

Provided that you speak a little bit of German, there’s a lot more to find out about the KAEGE Retro Porsche 911 in the attached factsheet. For those who don’t speak German, I recommend you just scour through the photo gallery and try not to drool on your keyboard. I know I did.
