Hyundai will take the veil off the Palisade on Wednesday at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, but before that, the South Korean automaker decided to release one last teaser of the three-row crossover. The photograph in question also features K-pop phenomenon BTS, which has been chosen as the global ambassador for the Palisade.
Nothing more than the South Korean version of a boy band, Beyond the Scene consists of seven members. After entering the spotlight in June 2013 with No More Dream, the Bangtan Boys also entered the U.S. Billboard 200 with their fifth studio album.

Pre-orders of the Palisade will open on Thursday in South Korea, and U.S. deliveries are scheduled for the summer of 2019. Production will take place in South Korea, which is curious if you remember the 2020 Kia Telluride will be manufactured in the United States.

The flagship utility vehicle has one more seat than the Santa Fe XL, translating to enough space for eight people. The grille is the most striking element of the Palisade, and based on an earlier photo of the front-/all-wheel-drive crossover, the design of the grille differs depending on trim level.

Similar to the Telluride, the Palisade will feature at least one six-cylinder engine option and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 3.8-liter V6 from the Genesis G80 could be it, but there’s a case to be made for the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 as well. The force-fed engine delivers 370 PS (365 horsepower) at 6,000 rpm and 376 pound-feet (510 Nm) of torque from 1,300 to 4,500 rpm.

Previewed by the HDC-2 Grandmaster Concept, the Palisade’s name comes from the Pacific Palisades. Described as “an affluent and beautiful neighborhood in Southern California,” we’re not sure what a series of coastal cliffs on the West Coast have in common with a three-row crossover.

Criticism aside, the Palisade is certain to sell by the bucketload in North America as demand for crossovers and SUVs keeps on surging. Last year, Hyundai reported that SUV sales set an all-time annual record in the United States, selling close to 250,000 units. Of those, the Tucson proved to be the most popular.
