Jorge Lorenzo Is Thinking About Formula 1

In a recent talk with BigNewsNetwork, the 2015 MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo has admitted that one of his dreams is to become a Formula 1 driver when the time comes to hang his motorcycle racing leathers.

Lorenzo has already tried his hand in GP2, the feeder class for the Formula 1 championship, but without any serious intentions so far. Still, the Mallorcan is no stranger to the world of car racing. About one year ago, Lorenzo was part of a 4-driver team that raced at Abu Dhabi.

The Yamaha MotoGP rider had Australian Liam Talbot, Brit Jacques Duvyers and Italian Marco Zanuttini as Kessel Racing teammates. Their car was a Ferrari 453 GT3 Challenge Evo and the team entered the Gentlemen class. There was only one more team in the class, so the competitiveness of this particular segment is somewhat arguable.

Kessel Racing's car finished in the 13th position from 23 teams that took the start in the Gulf 12 Hours, and this is not to be taken lightly. Lorenzo actually crashed the Ferrari some 30 minutes before the end of the race, but the advantage his team had was enough to win the class.Rossi has multiple rally accolades to his name, too
Lorenzo's arch-rival Valentino Rossi is also good behind the wheel, and one of the feared competitors in the post-season Monza Rally Show. He had multiple wins in this rally event, including this year's edition.

Some believe that Rossi will even become a pro rally driver after he retires from MotoGP, rather than trying his hand in World Superbike. The Doctor and Lorenzo are not the only ones who are making a jump to four wheels, with Cyril Despres being another huge name, albeit in Dakar, that is now part of the Peugeot Dakar team.Lorenzo's plans still lie with MotoGP for the moment
Lorenzo, however, says that for now his plans are still big for MotoGP, as he feels like there is still so much he can do in the sport. Even more, Lorenzo said that he'd also be happy if the 2016 season started right away, as he felt in good shape and mental status for racing.

Even so, he also admits that after the end of the 2015 championship he stopped training for a while and feels like he's getting fatter, but plans to be back in shape as soon as possible. And he really needs to, as Rossi is more determined than ever to claim his tenth world title...
