While at first I was tempted to write a truly mind-boggling title for this piece of news, it looks like things are already complicated enough in MotoGP for me to add even more confusion. Nevertheless, 2-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo will be involved in the 2014 World Superbike series… apparently driving the Alfa Romeo safety car prior to several races.
Lorenzo has signed a contract with Alfa Romeo and we’ll get to see the Italian car manufacturer’s logo on his helmet and leathers throughout the season. But things are far from beings left at this level. Lorenzo gets a 4C supercar for personal use, while his staff will also have Giulietta cars at their disposal, including several Quadrifolglio Verde models. The green 4-leaf clover is Alfa Romeo’s distinctive badge used for the most aggressive versions in a family.

As for Lorenzo and the WSBK races, he will put in several laps aboard the Alfa Romeo 4C Safety and Official Superbike car around certain circuits whose names are so far undisclosed.
Jorge Lorenzo also mentions that he prefers cars over motorbikes when he is at home, because of the superior comfort and “calmness”. Still, when asked what kind of cars he likes best, Lorenzo admits that sport cars are his favorite, because their resemblance to his daily job vehicle, the racing MotoGP prototype bike.
