Jordan Advises Hamilton to Take Massa Out

The 1994 Australian Grand Prix, the 1997 Japanese Grand Prix and the 2008 Japanese Grand Prix. What do they all have in common? For all you F1 enthusiasts out there, it's quite simple. In all these races, two drivers were battling for the world crown and, at one point, one tried to upset the other in order to keep his title chances alive.

It happened in 1994 with Michael Schumacher colliding with Damon Hill and later clinching the world title by a single point, then in 1997 when the same Schumacher tried to get Jacques Villeneuve off the track in a moment when the Canadian driver had already managed to overtake him for 1st place. Also, a few weeks ago, Felipe Massa tried to pull the same maneuver on Lewis Hamilton when the Brit passed him during the Japanese Grand Prix.

Heading to the season's finale at Interlagos, former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan advised Hamilton to do the same in case Massa will resort to hostile tactics to secure his maiden F1 title. Jordan urged his younger compatriot to make sure Massa will not finish the race should the Brazilian bump into him in the race.

“People may not like me for saying this, but if Massa tries to take him out as he did in Japan in order to steal the title then Lewis has to be ready for it. If he tries that on then Lewis has to turn his wheel into Massa to ensure he does not finish the race either - he has to take his wheel off,” said Jordan according to British newspaper Daily Express.

Hamilton is currently leading the overall classification by 7 points to second place Felipe Massa. The Englishman only needs to finish 5th or best to secure his maiden world title, while the Brazilian is forced to win the race and hopes for Hamilton to end the race in 6th or lower. In case he finishes the race in 2nd place, his only shot at winning the title would be if Hamilton fails to score any points in the race. From 3rd place onward, Massa will practically gift the world title to the McLaren driver.
