In December last year, we brought to you attention the stunning rendering of the 1-Series M Coupe CLS made by Jon Sibal. The car’s gleaming alpine white paint scheme, that was inspired by such legends as the e36 LTW, E46 CSL and E92 GTS, made us think it was a thing of beauty.
It appears we weren’t the only ones who liked it, as Chicago-based tuner IND Distribution will develop a 1-Series M Coupe CSL project car based on Sibal's rendering.
"I'm excited and honored to work with the crew at IND Distribution. I'll be posting some updates here as the project progress," Sibal wrote on his blog, announcing the deal. IND Distribution tunes a number of different brands, including BMW, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz. They also do servicing as a distributor of Eisenmann Exhaust Systems products in North America.
IND will make a kit out of the rendering to bring the car to life. The project should be based on the 2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe that we covered at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. The model offers 340 hp and 450 Nm from its 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine that uses direct injection and double VANOS variable valve timing. The M Coupe’s performance figures are truly worth of the ‘M’ badge: naught to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Also involved in the 1-Series M Coupe CSL project will be Patrick BMW, ESS Tuning, Brembo, KW, Challenge Engineering and Eisenmann, who will likely supply the 1-Series M project car's sport exhaust.
