This epic journey will set out from Los Angeles, where a surprise celebrity guest will be attending the party Indian Motorcycles plans to throw there, while the group will be special guests in Las Vegas at the unveiling of Indian Motorcycle's and Polaris’ new 2016 model year rollout.

Scenic backroads taking the veterans to amazing places

From Las Vegas, the veterans will travel to the Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Capital Reef National Park, The Arches and Moab Utah. After Utah, the convoy will be heading to Sturgis through the Colorado National Monument, Hahn’s Peak Colorado, and Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming, before reaching the site of the iconic motorcycle rally.

600 veterans expected to take part in the Buffalo Chip Freedom Ride

The veterans will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the rally with Indian Motorcycles by joining the Buffalo Chip Freedom Ride on August 6th, alongside some 600 fellow veterans.

"We want to use this ride and campaign as a platform to inform and connect veterans to the resources they need"

The goal of the ride is to show appreciation to those who served their country, and popularize the resources they need in order to make their lives better. "Many of our wounded and injured brothers and sisters who have served so courageously need a helping hand to transition back to civilian life and become proud members and leaders in our communities.

We want to use this ride and campaign as a platform to inform and connect veterans to the resources they need and encourage the general public to support those much-needed resources. Check out the You Can Help section of our website to find assistance or an organization or group to support.
"

The idea for the ride came from two Army Airborne Unit veterans

Indian Dave and Johnny Reno, who both served in the Airborne forces, met in 2014 on their way to Sturgis. Dave's active service ended some three decades ago, while Reno's was more recent. The two became friends after sharing each other's experiences when returning to their civilian lives, and decided to try to establish a new tradition.

Teaming up with Robert Manciero at Full Vision Productions, they told Indian about their idea, and the manufacturer gladly accepted to become a sponsor for the ride. This year's ride may be the beginning of the "Next Great Tradition," as its organizers have named it.

Champion Sidecars will offer Indian-specific sidecars for the severely injured veterans who will be part of the ride. Since the whole adventure will be filmed, we cannot wait to see the final documentary on what might just become a very cool tradition. For more info, check out veteranscharityride.org.
