A runner-up in the 2013 edition of the TT Zero in the Isle of Man with John McGuinness aboard the Shinden Ni machine, Mugen is planning to field two bikes in the upcoming electric race of the 2014 TT on the Snaefell Mountain.
Mugen has secured the services of two exceptional riders with plenty of experience on the legendary circuit, each with multiple wins under the belt. The first one is, as expected, Mr. Pint himself, proud winner on the Mountain for no less than 20 times and a living road racing legend.
The team mate of the Morecambe Missile will be another resounding name: New Zealand-based Bruce Anstey, with a total of 9 victories on the Manx mountain. Together they are probably the most formidable duo n Snaefell for the summer.
Mugen has renamed the bikes, and they went form Shinden Ni to Shinden San, denoting the more mature technology involved in building them and the hopes of living up to the record-breaking expectations. There are no tech details on the Shinden San machines, but we’ll bring you more on the matter as info surfaces.
With team MotoCzysz taking a year off racing to allow founder and owner Michael to take better care of his frail health, it looks like Team Mugen is the favorite for their first TT Zero victory on the Isle of Man. The 2014 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy will take place between May 24th and June 6th.
