He has sold over 14.8 million albums in the U.S. and over 20 million worldwide, gradually switched from acoustic rock, blues genre, later to pop and has won several renown awards. But John Mayer stays busy with different ventures nowadays, performing at charity organizations and participating at various environmental causes. That's probably why he bought the popular Xpedition vehicle.
Sure, some pop artists out there buy $60 million luxury jets for Christmas, like Justin Bieber did the other day. Some celebrities get that new sportscar they’ve been dreaming at for the last couple of years, others simply are surrounded by loving people who buy them cars instead.

John Mayer doesn’t really seems to be that type of famous person constantly craving for the opulence, chasing the most expensive goods on the market. No, the Gravity singer is rather a practical driver, at least that’s what we’re assuming looking at his Christmas gift.

The EarthRoamer was the first build Xpedition vehicles in North America and the XV-LT model in particular is one heck of an adventure ride. Built on the four wheel drive, turbo diesel powered, Ford F550 this 19,500 lbs vehicle comes with a 12,500 pound towing capacity, which means Mayer can bring his whole gear on road. Maybe even some groupies, not that we know anything about that, of course.

The XV-LT is designed to accommodate from two to eight people comfortably depending on the cab and camper body chosen. As far as we can tell, we’re looking at the LTS model, which is a muscular overlander that has a one-piece molded composite body planted on the bare, commercial-duty F-550 chassis.

A traveling machine

It’s powered by a 300 horsepower, 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine with 660 lb-ft of torque (890 Nm). EarthRoamer replaced the factory double rear wheels with a singe pair, using King off-road shocks and heavy duty anti-sway bars and pushes the minimum ground clearance up to 10.4 in (26.4 cm).

We’re obviously looking at one heck of an adventure machine specially designed to take you and your friends on a long road trip, which is pretty much what Mayer is planing to do.

I am a proud owner of this most formidable go-anywhere, live-anywhere vehicle. One year and many meetings in the making, she's all mine. Completely hand built in Colorado by extremely talented and innovative men and women. Who knows where I'll end up next,” the artist wrote on Instagram.

In case you’re wondering, these puppies won’t come cheap. According to Earth Roamer, typical prices for a completed 2015 model year (2014 model year is currently sold out) EarthRoamer XV-LT range from around $282,000-$500,000, while the model Mayer bought, the XV-LTS prices range from around $312,000 to $560,000.

Well, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do, even if that costs half a million dollars...
