Joerg Bergmeister Test Drives the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS

Back in September, Porsche presented the GTS version of the 911, with the model being slotted between the everyday rider Carrera S and the racing-inspired GT3. Now, the company is using its marketing magic to bring the vehicle to the public’s attention.

Getting to the point, we’ll tell you that the Porsche works driver and five-time American Le Mans Series champion Joerg Bergmeister was invited to take part in the vehicle’s U.S. press launch. The event took place in Palm Springs California and allowed the driver to test drive the car.

Of course, the whole test was captured on camera, with Porsche now releasing a clip that promotes the vehicle. Bergmeister says that the GTS really offers a more involving experience compared to the Carrera S (this is his daily ride). He explains that he can feel the difference between the two both in terms of power and handling. Of course, the Flying Lizard 911 GT3 RSR, the driver’s “corporate car” is also mentioned in the test.

We’ll remind you that the GTS is powered by a revised 3.8 liter six-cylinder boxer engine that offers 408 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. The unit uses a performance exhaust system that offers it a special sound.

As for the body of the car, this is shared with the Carrera $, being 44mm wider than that of the Carrera S. The vehicle uses 19-inch center-hub RS Spyder rims that are wrapped in 305/30 tires for the rear axle. The vehicle has a starting price of $103,100 (Coupe) and $112,900 (Cabriolet).
