Gone are the days when everything in the automotive industry would be just about cars. Today, new models are related to fashion, and racing is connected to famous people in a way or another. That’s how Joe Dirt ended up giving lessons to two NASCAR drivers, one of which is none other than Danica Patrick.
The advertising clip was created to promote several things. Marketing is about effectively blending things into each other; we get that, but judging by some of the comments the video received, it may seem Joe Dirt was not the best way to promote this weekend’s NASCAR event.

The two racers will be hitting the track on Sunday, during this year’s Coke Zero 400, which is an annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held at Daytona International Speedway. We are looking at the second major stock car event after the Daytona 500, so it’s only natural people want to know everything about it.

The clip was meant to be funny, but we still have problems identifying the good jokes. We’ll stay out of that conversation though. Instead, we’d like to talk a little about the car David Spade is driving.

The car is, in fact, his in real life too. The vehicle was never used in the film, but it’s the closest model he could get to the Daytona his character drives in both the 14-years-ago movie and the sequel that is about to screen this month.

The car is a special ride, and it’s not just because of its fame, but also for the price the comedian allegedly paid for it. As we mentioned previously, we’re looking at the lowest-mile original 4-speed Hemi Daytona that fetched $900.000 at Mecum Kissimmee 2015 auction in January. As far as we can tell, the actor is driving that precise car in the video below.
