Jeremy Clarkson Sells His CLK 63 AMG Black Series

Even though he used to make millions with every season of Top Gear, life is tough for Jeremy Clarkson. The most famous motoring journalist… in the world has just announced that he has sold his beloved AMG Black Series.

"Sad day. I just sold my AMG Black," Jezza said in a Twitter post on June 1st. People's reactions were unanimously sad, with some showing concern over the star presenter's finances.

Of course, it's not about the money since Jeremy has owned this particular super-coupe for a very long time. Which super-coupe are we talking about? Why, a CLK 63 AMG Black Series, a sledgehammer with killer handling.

Powering this beast is a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that produces 507 bhp at 6,800 rpm. It's linked to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox. It would hit 62mph in 4.3sec, and the limiter was raised to 186 mph (300 km/h). Without it, a supercar-like 200 mph was possible.

When new, the CLK 63 AMG Black cost circa £100,000. However, we've heard rumors that Jeremy was selling his for just under 90k. That's because only 25 came to the UK in RHD, and his example has done only 10,000 miles (about 16,000 kilometers).

Still, it's had its fair share of mechanical problems. For example, in 2012, Jeremy tweeted that his car won't start and that his battery is so flat the doors won't open.

Mercedes built the CLK Black as a watershed moment to celebrate the 40th anniversary of AMG. Only thanks to its success did we get the hot version of the SLS and other goodies. In any case, here's the full review Clarkson. Enjoy it while it's still online!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
