UPDATE3: Tom Ford has confirmed the original Tweet that led to the article is nonsense, so don't start working on those remote controls just yet. We've talked a lot about Jeremy Clarkson this week and the risk of him pressing the Top Gear capsule's "eject" button. Now it seems that there might be a clue towards where the man may be landing - on a show hosted by BBC rival Channel 4.
It appears that Channel 4, this Benne Gesserit of British television, has a new motoring show in the pipeline. Forget your gears, this time it's said we'll be dealing with a production called "Full Throttle".

The beans were spilled by Steve Brisbane, whose Twitter description reads "Dealer/Highly specialist aftersales genius! Worked for Audi, Peugeot, Saab, Mazda, BMW/Mini Involved with Orenda Supercars & Noble Automotive".

In a recent tweet, the man introduced the show, but when it comes to explaining who was involved, things get a bit more complicated. That's because, besides Clarkson, his tweet mentions Tom Ford who is both a Top Gear magazine contributing editor and Fifth Gear presenter, as well as Ollie Marriage, Top Gear mag's motoring editor. The driving is taken care of by none other than Tiff Needell.
Sure, a pair of Top Gear stars reportedly being involved in a filming session doesn't necessarily mean a full season contract, so we'll have to give this lead a bit of time to mature.

As you can imagine, Channel 4 has reportedly played the head-hunting game with Clarkson in the past, but this looks like this time they might have tried harder.

After having gone through the first TG format between 1998 and 2000, Clarkson reinvented the series together with producer Andy Wilman. The new journey started in 2002 and the week that's about to start should give us an official confirmation on whether this is the end of Clarkson's love affair with Top Gear.

Meanwhile, the two photos bellow may serve as hints of things to come. A few hours before Steve Brisbane posted the tweet above, Tom Ford used his Instagram account to give us a photo of six men in racing attire. The helmets block out the facial view, but Clarkson could be the second one on the right. Or perhaps that is just some tall bloke, we can't know for now.

Soon after that, Ford tweeted the photo loaded with signs of tire-melting action. Something to keep us warm over what's left of the weekend.

PS: why would Clarkson want to leave Top Gear? Well, he has the best reason... in the world.

UPDATE: apparently, The Stig couldn't miss the fracas party. Mind you, we are talking about ex-Stig Perry McCharty here. The Black Stig used his Twitter account to slam the BBC in a rather strange manner. Of course, McCharty's own troubled BBC past means we need to take this with a grain of salt brake dust.

UPDATE2: As one of our readers points out below, the photo of the six men in motorsport apparel comes from Mud, Sweat and Gears. You may or may not be familair with the show, since it kicked off back in January. Mud, Sweat and Gears, which is broadcast on BBC America (US) and BBC Brit (the rest of the world), sees Tom Ford and Jonny Smith, whom you probably know from Fifth Gear, playing Carmageddon with actual cars, in a destruction derby that also includes guests.
