So the Daily Mirror is loud and proud about today's cover story. Ambitiously titled "Clarkson Shown the Door" in print and continued by "Oisin Tymon refuses to open up to repentant Top Gear star" on the web, some details of the article don't make sense.
To make a long story short, "a source said desperate Clarkson, who turned up at the front door of the producer he allegedly hit, 'tried for up to five minutes but in the end had to walk away'." This allegedly happened four days after the fracas incident. It's very fishy how this detail surfaced so late after it happened. Too late and too fishy for what it's worth...

The BBC reported on March 10th about the fracas, an incident that was reported to the BBC executives on March 9th, resulting in Clarkson's suspension on the 10th. The BBC disciplinary meeting took place this week, with both producer Oisin Tymon and Jeremy Clarkson giving their variants of the drunken punch-up.

The Simonstone Hall Hotel told the Telegraph that Clarkson, Hammond and May stayed there for one night on March 4th. According to the Daily Mirror's latest report, that means that Clarkson went to Oisin's apartment to try and apologize on Sunday, March 8th, one day before the BBC higer-ups were informed.

At the BBC disciplinary meeting, the committee most certainly wasn't interested about how JC tried to plead for forgiveness, but how the fracas happened, who was around (Richard Hammond and James May, apparently) and if the producer will press charges for assault and for ethnic slur (Irish c**t).

Therefore, a BBC source is highly unlikely to have given the Daily Mirror this bit of intel.

Was it a neighbour of Oisin that let this detail slip almost two friggin' weeks since it happened? It's highly unlikely as well beacuse of the timing. Then again, Clarkson may be an orangutan on TV for our entertainment, but he's a thoroughly intelligent individual. Allegedly, JC tried to phone and email Oisin to express his apologies. We buy that. But shaming himself with going to the producer's door and asking for forgiveness with no success is at the border of science fiction.

Bottom line is that you don't need inspector Poirot's detective skills to figure out that this story is full of delusions. I'm sure that Jeremy tried to apologize via the phone and through an email, but going to the guy's door to atone for his sin is too far fetched of a scenario. Take it with a grain mountain of salt or don't.

The truth will be uncovered next week, when BBC Scotland Director Ken MacQuarie will present the evidence of the fracas incident to Tony Hall, the British broadcaster's Director-General.
