McLaren was clearly on top at the start of th 2012 Formula 1 season, but it was Jenson Button who actually took home the glory in Melbourne this weekend. After the first corner, Button already had the lead, one which he never lost until the end of the race. Second place was taken by two-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.
With the first race over, the teams now focus their efforts on Malaysia, where McLaren’s dominance will be tested for the first time this season to see if they really can hold off Red Bull.
"I actually did pinch myself in the race just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. After qualifying I looked across at Lewis (Hamilton) and said 'Did you think we would be that quick?', and he was like 'No',” Jenson said after the race.
