According to the latest report from The Sun tabloid, the house Button set his eyes on is none other that the one currently owned by famous British pop singer Robbie Williams. What's worth mentioning is the fact that his mansion may not really fall into the “house” category, but more like a mini-castle one, as we're talking about the 18th-century Compton Bassett House.
The same newspaper notes that Williams initially purchased the house with the price of £8.5 million, but is ready to accept bids of up to one million sterling pounds short of his initial buying.
Button is currently owner of 3 houses: two apartments (in Monaco and London) and a private villa in Bahrain. Robbie's may be of some interest to Button because of its own race track in the garden, designed for rage buggies.
Button was recently in the middle of a controversial switch to McLaren Mercedes for the 2010 season. He initially asked for more money from Ross Brawn – as he had accepted a 50 percent pay cut prior to the 2009 season – being that he is now world champion, an offer which the British boss apparently accepted.
However, although offering the 29-year old ace a massive 12-million pounds sterling deal per season next year (8 million were guaranteed, the remaining 4 were racing bonuses), Brawn was left open-mouthed when Button suddenly accepted a lower deal from McLaren (7 million pounds sterling).
Now that he's looking to purchase the aforementioned house, we can't help ourselves from wondering where Button will get his money from, especially after a low-budget season such as the one in 2009.
