Talking about the new BMW M3 DTM, Marquardt said that they created a more robust car. Due to regulation limitations regarding aerodynamic work, the team focused on changing different areas like fine-tuning and team bonding.

The most important new feature that will make its debut in this DTM Season is the Drag Reduction System. This was first tested at the start of the year and the main challenge the team faced was making sure that it did not affect the normal testing. However, since January, a lot of further development of the DRS was carried out and not it's ready to be used in races.

Another new option for 2013 will be the new tires. This was introduced to make DTM even more exciting. These new 'shoes' are faster than normal tires over the first laps but they degrade faster than the old ones. At the moment, it's unknown how much faster and this will have to be checked during races, so there's still some uncertainty in this area.

“The combination of the two changes, both the option tyre and DRS, also promises to provide some exciting moments. We endorse the use of both elements, and see them as a good decision for the sport and the fans," said Marquardt at the end of the interview.
