Jennifer Garner, like most other driving moms, has chosen a big SUV to drive her children around in the safest way possible. Her Mercedes-Benz GL550 is the highest factory spec GL, with the exception of the AMG model.
Garner gained recognition on television for her performance as CIA agent Sydney Bristow in the thriller drama series Alias, which aired on ABC for five seasons between 2001 and 2006. While working on Alias, she gained minor roles in hit movies such as Pearl Harbor (2001) and Catch Me if You Can (2002). However, she has put her movie carrier on hold in 2008, in order to provide better care for the two daughters she has with her husband Ben Affleck.
Garner was the second of three daughters born in a middle class family in Houston, Texas. Garner's conservative upbringing included going to church every Sunday, not wearing make-up or a bikini, and waiting at least until the age of sixteen to be allowed to get her ears pierced, which, she later joked, made her family "just a step away from being Amish."
The GL550 is a mix between SUV and luxury-mobile. Its 382-hp, V-8 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission give it a fast but comfortable ride. The power provided by its 5.5-liter DOHC V8 helps it deal with the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in just 6.5 seconds. Such performance comes at a cost however, as the car averages only 17 mpg (13.4 liters per 100 km) on the highway. Safety features include emergency tensioning seatbelts, 13 airbags and an advance tire pressure monitoring system.
