About a year ago Jeff Gordon and Pepsi put together an awesome test drive prank in which the NASCAR racer scared the living soul out of a poor Chevrolet salesman. In case you’re not familiar with it, make sure you watch it by following this link.
The ad went viral and, like most successful commercials, it was viewed by tens of millions of people on YouTube. While most people found it pretty funny, others deemed it a fake, including Jalopnik editor Travis Okulski, who said the ad was exciting and really fun to watch, but also “really duplicitous”.

Fake or not, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that Gordon decided to teach Okulski a lesson by making him the leading actor of Pepsi’s brand new prank commercial. The plot was somewhat similar to the “Test Drive” ad. Gordon got some fake wrinkles, a beard and a neck tattoo.

The Camaro was replaced by a Chevrolet Caprice yellow cab and a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was brought in for the chase. The prank took place in Charlotte, where Okulski was supposed to get in the brand new Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Long story short, he gets the ride of his life screaming and begging for the taxi driver “who just got out after 10 years in jail” to stop the car. Watch the video below and head over to Jalopnik for the full story.
