The US army definitely loves Jeep and the carmaker has recently offers the world a new sign that it too loves America’s military, releasing the 2012 Wrangler Freedom Edition.
The special edition uses the Wrangler Sport as a starting point and comes in a two- or a four-door version. The car is finishes in Mineral Grey, rides on 17-inch wheels and uses rugged black sidesteps and wears military decals, as well as a Mopar fuel filler cap.
Climbing aboard, we only find a few changes, such as Mopar floor mats, Quick Silver trimming and embroidered seats.
Under the hood, we get a 3.6-liter V6 unit that delivers 289 hp and a peak torque of 260 lb-ft (352 Nm). This allows the Wrangler to cover the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in 8.4 seconds, while the fuel efficiency sits at 21 mpg / 11.2 liters per 100 km (this is the highway figure).
The Wrangler Freedom Edition comes with a starting price of $28,165 (EUR22,298), with $250 (EUR198) of each sale set to go to charities that back up US military members.
