"Jeep is already bringing back the Grand Wagoneer, why would it need a Wrangler-esque van to haul more than five people in top conditions?" one might rightfully ask. Well, there are multiple reasons for the cab-forward design showcased in this independent rendering to come to life, with these involving both the company's past and its future.
With the cab sitting over the engine, this pixel work pays homage to the Jeep Forward Control. Introduced back in 1956, the FC revolutionized American light commercial vehicle design by applying the said solution, which had been reserved for heavy-duty machines until that point. And the benefits were obvious, with these involving a reduced turning radius and maximized cargo room.

In the following years, Ford, Chevrolet, and eventually Dodge followed suit, entering the cab-over segment. However, with the FC using the platform of the Jeep CJ-5, this delivered serious rugged terrain capability, with AWD coming as standard, which was no small feat back in the day.

When most enthusiasts think of the Jeep Forward Control, they picture a bed behind the cab, but various configurations were offered by the carmaker (more on this topic below).

In the modern era, Jeep acknowledges the importance of the nameplate, which is why it came up with the Mighty FC concept back in 2012, but no production model has been introduced to date.

Well, the rendering we have here comes to address the need for a revival by portraying a modern FC based on the current Wrangler. Instead of playing the pickup truck card, the work showcases a van that would be able to haul at least six passengers in full comfort. Did we say haul? We should've mentioned taking the occupants anywhere instead.

And if the showroom look of the full-body version is too mundane for you, an all-adventure version featuring skeleton doors has also been envisioned.

The level of sophistication that defines this rendering comes to confirm the experience of Samir Sadikhov, the artist behind the work, who decided to call this the "Vangler" for obvious reasons. Keep in mind that we're talking about a designer whose resume involves working for Lamborghini and Rezvani Motors, the maker of the Tank.

Perhaps the most feasible way for Jeep to bring back the FC involves... a bit of waiting. That's because such a layout would be perfect for an electric vehicle, with the motors and the floor-mounted battery allowing for generous cabin space.

And with the carmaker having announced serious electrification plans for this decade, a revival might just be closer than ever.

Update:Sadikhov has delivered fresh images of the Vangler. The renderings, which you'll find at the bottom of the story, bring a close-up look, as well as an adventure setup for this immaginary Jeep.
