The Jeep Grand Cherokee is set to receive a revamp for the 2014 model year and the carmaker is rushing to release this in its aim to increase the model’s sales, which also means that the SUV will have a short 2013 model year.
According to Automotive News (sub. req.), dealers are ordering the 2013 models right now, with the production set to debut in August. As for the aforementioned refresh, the 2014 Grand Cherokee will be available with the 3.0-liter V6 unit borrowed from its European version, on which it delivers 241 hp and 406 lb-ft (Nm) of torque.
In addition to that, the Grand Cherokee will receive a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, which will probably be mated to a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, like in the 2013 Ram 1500 and the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is scheduled to make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January and hit the market subsequently.
